Light of Fontenay
Nestled in a wooded valley, the Abbey of Fontenay enjoys a special light. Sun radiates at Fontenay in a very singular way at all times of day, lighting buildings, gardens and surrounding forests. It creates beautiful color contrasts between yellow hues of stone, green shades of the surrounding vegetation and blue sky. Visitors appreciate an unforgettable spectacle of great beauty.
The delicate glow of light passing through the simple stained glass windows creates a soft and intimate atmosphere of semi-darkness in the Abbey Church.
The light of Fontenay is sought and appreciated by photographers. Amateur photo shots (without tripod) are allowed in the Abbey.
