Formal garden
The monks cultivated medicinal plants and vegetables (for their diet low in meat) in the large garden located to the east of the convent buildings, which can be seen from the windows of the dormitory.
This garden was redesigned after the Second World War in a classical garden with clean lines perfectly matching the architecture of Fontenay.
It offers visitors a pleasant and quiet walking area.
